Author Description Mónica Ojeda was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 1988. She has published novels, short stories, and poems, earning her nominations and accolades in various literary contests. In 2017, she was listed in Bogotá39 by the Hay Festival as one of the best Latin American fiction writers under forty. In 2019, she received the Prince Claus Next Generation Award in the Netherlands. In 2021, Granta magazine named her one of the best Spanish-language authors under 35.<br /><br />Ojeda stands out as one of the leading figures in contemporary Latin American fiction literature. The author is renowned for her skill in crafting intense and unsettling narratives that delve into the darker aspects of human psychology. Her stories often explore themes such as abuse, obsession, emotional decay, while intricately portraying femininity within complex and challenging contexts.<br />----<br /><br />Mónica Ojeda (Guayaquil, Ecuador, 1988). Máster en Creación Literaria y en Teoría y Crítica de la Cultura, dio clases de Literatura en la Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. Actualmente vive en Madrid.<br /><br />Ha publicado las novelas <i>Mandíbula</i> (Candaya, 2018), <i>Nefando</i> (Candaya, 2016) que tuvo una espectacular recepción crítica y <i>La desfiguración Silva</i> (Premio Alba Narrativa 2014). En 2017 publicó el relato <i>Caninos</i> y otro de sus cuentos fue antologado en <i>Emergencias. Doce cuentos iberoamericanos</i> (Candaya, 2013). Con <i>El ciclo de las piedras</i>, su primer libro de poemas, obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Poesía Desembarco 2015.<br /><br />Forma parte de la prestigiosa lista de Bogotá 39-2017, que recoge a los 39 escritores latinoamericanos menores de 40 años con más talento y proyección de la década.
