About
Louise Otto-Peters, also known as Louise Otto, was a German writer, feminist, poet, journalist, and women's rights movement activist. In 1848 she founded the feminist newspaper Frauen-Zeitung (Women's News), which ran until it was suppressed in 1852. The masthead bore the tagline Dem Reich der Freiheit werb ich Bürgerinnen!, which translates as "I am recruiting female citizens for the realm of freedom!"
